Dear Homeowners,
It is my pleasure to announce the slate of candidates for the 2003 HOA board has been approved. I would like to extend a thank you on behalf of our association to our new representatives, Rob Greenlee, Derek Lees and Sandi Semler. These individuals have stepped forward to continue our tradition of community management. An active HOA board will provide the best opportunity to control cost and make decisions with our neighbors in mind.
As our community matures, member participation becomes increasingly important. Our ability to protect our common and individual investments relies in part on having a strong HOA. I know it sometimes seems difficult to justify the expense of dues for our association, especially since we do not have parks or playgrounds like many other communities. Seeing HOA dollars at work in these communities is very tangible. For better or worse, we are the private holders of our streets, drain systems, streetlights and other common areas. The upkeep and maintenance of these items have a direct effect on the quality of life in our community as well as the values of our property.
Unfortunately private streets and systems are a fact of ownership for our community. This situation dictates that we maintain a Homeowners Association to manage our community assets. The 2003 Board will be building on the efforts of previous boards to design a structure that will help ensure the protection of our investments. These decisions can not be made in a vacuum and require member input. You can help by making your thoughts known. There are many opportunities to communicate with the Board. Attending a membership or board meeting are both appropriate forums to share input. Call a board member or send e-mail, to make suggestions or get more information. And it is very important to consider taking your turn on the leadership team. This is a volunteer organization and should not be shouldered by just a few families.
I would like to thank our 2002 Board members, Betty Simpson, Vice President, for her help with special projects and contributions to the business of the board and Dana Greenlee, Sec/Treasurer, for performing a very demanding job as well as developing and maintaining an outstanding community website. I would also like to thank our committee chairs for all their hard work this year. These individuals are Jerry Simpson, ACC Chair, Wendy Wheeler and Maria Casella, Community Affairs Chairs and Tom Palmer, Grounds and Maintenance Chair.
I would like to once again extend my thanks to our new leadership team. I hope they enjoy many successes this coming year. I would also like to thank all of you for the support we have received this year and would like to encourage you to raise that support to a new level for our 2003 team.
Best wishes,
Steve Cole
2002 HOA President
